PPW Celebrates ‘Eid Milan Party’ to cement bond with community

DUBAI: Over 200 participants comprising members of the Pakistan Professionals Wing (PPW) and their families spent a fun-filled evening as a number of children took part in a fancy dress show and won a wide range of gifts.The event, Eid Milan Party, was held at Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai on Thursday night, which was attended by a large number of members and their families. The chief guest was Tariq Iqbal Soomro, consul general of Pakistan in Dubai, while many prominent dignitaries from the community were also present on the occasion.The PPW, a body of Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), has a large number of professionals as its members such as bankers, doctors, engineers and many others.This year the PPW is also celebrating its silver jubilee with a number of events like interactive sessions with eminent Pakistani personalities to discuss many ongoing challenges and musical evenings to entertain the members and their families through singers invited from Pakistan. Besides, there will be many other activities throughout the year to benefit the community in general and the members in particular.Munir Mahmood, chairman, PPW, told The Gulf Today that the Eid Milan Party has been a part of the annual gathering for the members since the inception of the wing. The party provides an opportunity to meet community members and their families at one place.

“Besides the Eid Milan Party every year, the PPW has also been holding many other annual events like family picnics and cricket matches to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14 and the National Day of the UAE on Dec.2.

“These activities boost the participation from the community on a wide scale and also provide a platform to interact with other communities residing in the UAE,” he added.

Iqbal Milladwala, member of the PPW executive committee, who hosts the show, said that the participating families had an opportunity to take part in a variety of activities like singing the national songs.

Earlier, a group of children in different costumes ranging from traditional dress to army uniform presented themselves in front of the audience. Three of the winners were given top prizes.

The other children in the fancy dress show were also given prizes.

Besides, many members showed their skills in singing and sang national songs.

Later through a mega draw, lucky winners were given mega prizes like an airconditioner, two air tickets, a Persian carpet and many other gifts.
